Change of leadership at Dutch Party for the Animals

Christine Teunissen to take over as interim leader

Carla Thieme steps down after 15 years

The Party for the Animals (PvdD) in the Netherlands has appointed Christine Teunissen as its new parliamentary leader, following the resignation of Carla Thieme.

Thieme, who has served as the party's parliamentary leader in the Provincial States since 2007, has decided to step down after 15 years in the role.

Teunissen, who is a member of the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, will take over the position on an interim basis. She will be responsible for leading the party in the run-up to the next parliamentary elections, scheduled for 2025.

The PvdD is a left-wing political party that advocates for animal rights and environmental protection. It currently has five seats in the Second Chamber and one seat in the First Chamber.
